455 Webley and Trailboss

Well the 4.3grn loads never shot any better. (About 12" high and all over the place at 10 yards) I am at a loss here of what to do. Bump the charge up to 4.5grns? Try a different boolit that's not hollow based?

Try a .452 sized 250 gr SWC bullet thats harder.
my guess is its the soft bullets deformoing to much .
most guys that shoot the smokeless in theses shoot 5 gr unique loads but 4.5 should work decent as well.
has to be your bullets is my best guess.

I will give that a whirl and hope it works out. I will also maybe try casting some boolits 50/50 pure and wheel weights and see if that helps.

There's not much you can do about shooting high, that is normal for most webley MKI and MKII, although 12" at 10 yards might be more than usual. It seems that the British military in 1890 expected these revolvers to be used at longer distances than what we consider normal pistol range today. Smellie could add some historical perspective as he has posted on this subject before in previous threads.

You can lower the point of impact a bit by shooting hotter loads and lighter bullets - which sounds back-assward but is indeed correct. I made a slip-on extension to fit on the front sight of a MKII webley. Just over 1/4 inch added to the front sight gave me a 20 yard zero instead of a 100 yd zero.
