.458 Socom PAR conversion questions

I think the biggest problem you'll find converting to 458 or any other caliber is finding an appropriate barrel. How many AR barrels have you seen without a gas port? You would probably end up having to have one built. Unless of course the PAR uses the AR gas block saddle as a mounting point for the forend or something like that.
I don't own one but have been tempted many times and if someone can shed some light on how to use a regular AR barrel that has a gas port drilled that would be great.

Does anyone know if the 308 par has a standard ar10/dpms barrel and extension. Minus the gas hole? I called troy and they would not tell me.

I know for a fact Ian at herron arms has knowledge about a 458 socom conversion on a Troy PAR. 13" barrel works just fine with the stock handguard. ;)

Won't the 450 bushmaster mag work for the 458 socom?
These are legal, I think it is because of the follower.

458 uses 223 magazines which set the cartridges side to side.

The 450 bushmaster mags have internal limiters making it a true single stack that feeds directly down the center

They are legal because of the proprietary design of the single stack that does not allow it to hold even one round of 223/556
