458 Win mag brass, source??

Anyone know a source for 458 Winchester magnum brass?? I have a Zastava coming, so need to get my components lined up. I almost died of sticker shock when I saw the cost of factory fodder.:eek:
 
.300 Win Mag brass will be a LOT cheaper and easier to find. Put about 10gr of a fast pistol/shotgun powder, like bullseye, red dot, 700x, etc, in the case, use a pencil to push in a small piece of tissue or toilet paper, then fill the case with cream of wheat. Press it into a bar of soap or wax, and fire it in your 458 gun. You may have to do it twice o ruse more powder depending on what powder you use. After you have a straight case, FL size with your 458 die, and you're off to the races!

I had sent an e-mail about prices and shipping late last week, but they haven't gotten back to me yet....figured maybe they were busy with a gun show. I'm looking forward to a rifle that will beat the p#ss out of me! Seriously though, will most likely down load it and work my way up.

Actually the recoil of factory and factory equivilent loads isn't too bad. Theres a fair bit of it but its relatively sluggish. When you get the velocity up to where its supposed to be, and to its potential it wakes up and makes itself known. A2230 will make it all that it can be.

Federal is about $130. Its costing me $40 to handload it with 450 grain A-Frames. Watching the chronograph light up at 2350 fps or a buffalo getting slammed makes it all worthwhile.

You can use 300 Win Mag brass, but it's 2.620" long whereas 458 Win Mag (and 264, 7mm and 338 Mag) is 2.500". You'd need to trim 300 Win Mag to 2.500" before fireforming and again after (it will lengthen a bit). 338 Win Mag is the best choice IMO if 458 Win Mag can't be found. You could anneal the 338 Win Mag and then simply F/L size it - either to 45 cal in one stage, or to 40 Cal, then 44 Cal (using pistol dies), then to 45 cal (with the 458 Win Mag dies). If this approach presents problems (e.g. splitting or lack of dies), fireforming can get you around the splits you might encounter. Trim to length after sizing, and again after first use. Even though they're headstamped 338 Win Mag, they couldn't be chambered in a 338 Win Mag (even by the biggest dummy extant), so there's no danger there.
