What's the general consensus on steel vs polymer followers in a 1911 chambered in .45ACP? I tend to prefer polymer followers in general for less friction, and that's what most magazines known for reliability seem to use. Any issues with polymer followers? Do they engage the slide stop reliably? Or does the tab that engages the slide stop wear out faster?

I see Promag makes a 10 round magazine with a polymer follower, and thought I might give them a try. Any experiences with these mags?

Thanks

I'm running both kimber mags with steel followers and a Wilson combat mag with polymer follower. A few hundred rounds through each and I never have had issues with either. I'm sure some guys that shoot a lot more than me can attest to the durability of each.

Honestly though, I would say I like the Wilson Mag better than the Kimber ones.

I got some Chip 10rnd mags with the steel followers and a bunch of ACT, WC and Sig mags with the polymer followers, no feeding issues with either. I was lazy and was only trying to clean the feed lip and follower of my Chip mags one time and tried to push down the follower when the follower flipped end over and I had to do a full disassembly to sort it out.
