45ACP & 45 Colt Reloading

Hey all! Long time for a post for me! Anyway I've been reloading 45ACP for a while, just wondering if I can use the same projectiles (bullets) if I were to reload for 45 Colt or Long Colt, like the old revolvers. I currently use 230Gr FCP RN and 200Gr FCP TC for my 45ACP reloads with usually Win231 and Titegroup. Just wondering if the projectile itself is usable for 45 Colt as well. My Lyman manual indicates maybe the 200Gr I can use? Just wondering what others have done. Thanks in advance! -Wolfy

Wolfgang7: Short answer...yes. Same bullet diameter for both. The 230 grain being perfectly suitable in the Colt cartridge, too.

I'm using 200grn 452 SWC for 45 colt in my 45acp.

Yes. I use the acp taper crimp die when loading for 45 Colt.

Depends how old your 45 Colt is. Older ones generally have a slightly larger bore and throat diameter. 454 to 452. They'll still shoot, but may not be as accurate as you'd like. - dan
