I just started loading for an old Remington Rand 1911. I'm using 185gr lswc and starting with 5gr of HP-38 (trying to finish it off). My OAL is around 1.235". I've seen a bunch of different numbers on the net. Is this a good length?

Thanks

Dont worry about what length someone else uses

each gun is different and bullets of the same weight will vary in length

first I would find out what overall length works in your gun.

Make up a dummy round and check fit with your barrel removed from your gun

base of the brass should be even or just below the end of the hood

it should fit with out using any finger pressure to seat it
