.45Colt (LC) Reloaded Too Long

Do you have access to a vice? Easy to compress the round and push the bullet deeper.

That's a good option. Wouldn't take much to push the bullet in a couple mm so he can shoot them. A real handy fella (or one with too much time on his hands) would replace one of the jaw screws with a longer one that only allowed the vice to close to the needed length, but eye balling them would be just fine for the intended purpose. An 1858 with conversion cylinder doesn't need precision ammo.

Hey bubba - using a vise ?? This is dum.

The only safe way is to take a kinetic hammer and take apart those loads. Then start fresh. Check the brass and trim as per min specs. Choose a powder and charge that are within limits of your gun. AND never use somebody else reload... adjust oal then - BUT that bullet seem a .45 acp SWC- H&G 68 style normaly 200 grains - not really suitable for 45 colt. They were made for 1911 semi auto in the early days of IPSC.. nothing to do with cowboy shooting...There is no crimp groove and you must use a taper crimp on those. Myself I would dissemble them and use a proper bullet.

Calling Ganderite bubba...classy...The OP doesn't reload or have any gear so suggesting he break the ammo down and redo it is dum.
It's spelled dumb btw.

A LEE Loader in 45 Colt would be all the tools that you would need. And not to big a $ investment either.

A large percentage of handloaders started on the LEE Loader, but it is mainly a gateway tool, leading to the purchase of many $ worth of reloading tools and abandoning the LEE loader. Although a bit bulkier, a good working hand press is the LEE Breech Lock Hand Press. I experimented with one, works rather well, IMO.

Several years ago I did an ammo test on some 222 Rem. 5 shells loaded on a press, 5 shells loaded with a Lyman tong tool, and 5 loaded with LEE Loader. I did weigh the powder. The LEE Loader group was smallest, proving to me that the LEE Loader will load accurate ammunition. IIRC, 3/8" @ 100. The others were right in there as well. With only 1 group each it was far from a scientific test, was more of a S&G endeavor.

A "gateway tool". I like that, lol.

That's how I started. The 30-06 Lee Loader was the price of 2 boxes of ammo and seemed like an economical choice. Little did I know...
