As far as I'm aware 45lc stands for 45 Long Colt. Usually abbreviated to 45 Colt.

The term "long colt" is incorrect. It was used back when 45 schofield was more available, as 45sco is slightly shorter than 45Colt often 45 colt was refered to as 'long colt'.
The nickname has stuck. Brass is interchangeable.
