45lc pet loads

I'm using 5.5 gr.Trail Boss and a 250 gr. LRNFPBB for my Ruger Vaqueros and my Uberti 1866 as well.
That load seems to work very well for CAS, providing all the accuracy needed for my rifle and pistols.

In my S&W M-25, I run 8.9 gr of Unique with a 200 gr cast semi wadcutter.

In my recently acquired 4 5/8" Ruger Blackhawk (which has the required strength to handle stout loads) I run the same bullet in front of 22.7 gr of WW-296.......This has proven to be the most FUN hangun/load combination from my whole collection. A satisfying thunderous Boom and Hearty one handed recoil impulse that nears vertical, without pain or strain, just fun factor :D

Just to touch on bullet sizing for a minute. When choosing a bullet for a revolver, the bullet diameter should match the cylinder throat diameter rather than the bore diameter for best accuracy. If your gun is a Ruger, the early Blackhawks were over sized, but newer ones including the Vaqueros have a throat that might be undersized running .449"-.451". If this is the case with your gun, the .45 ACP bullets might work fine with a taper crimp.
