.45LC vs. .44 Mag

Linebaugh and Seyfried both have vast knowledge and experience concerning 44 mag and 45LC. Given a choice both would pick the 45LC hands down. In my Speer loading Manual No.12 the 300 grain load for the 45LC slightly exceeds the 44 mag equivelent load. My choice is the 45 LC, because you're pushing a larger diameter bullet at the same velocity as a 44 mag with less pressure, and thats by the book. Of course, the velocities that I'm talking about can only be safely achieved in a Ruger or a TC. I have two Rugers, a Redhawk and a Bisley, both 45LC, and I love them.

I get caught up in discussion about shooting heavy bullets fast, but then I have to remind myself that we can't hunt with handguns in Canada; so, the fact that you can push a heavy bullet at such velocities really serves no purpose.
