Just pick up a s&w .460 just wondering if anyone has some pet loads ? Looking for some target loads with cast bullets from bullet barn or other plinking loads. As well as some higher velocity loads to see what this thing is capable of. I found some good load data on the net but also wondering what every one else is loading with easy to get components available to us in Canada.

I cast Lee C452-300-RF and have a very accurate pet load of 46 gr AA1680 with them. I've used the same charge and powder with 300 gr 452 Frontier 454 Casul bullets as well. Lots of boom!!!
Another one I make is resize a Lee C457-500-F to 452 in a Lee sizer and load them under 26.6 gr H110 for $hits n giggles. Shoots to the same point of aim as the two above at 10 yds.

H110 under a 240gr Hornady XTP (or was it 200gr?).
Work up towards max book charge in the Hornady manual and stop and drop a grain or two when you get to where the concussion gets unmanageable. I eventually sold mine when the novelty wore off and I got tired of getting a headache from shooting it. It did however produce the biggest smiles of all my guns when letting someone else try it out. Always a crowd favorite
Accuracy was not my main goal with my 460V but I was able to hit a 100 yard gong at the range fairly regularly.
I wouldn't run cast bullets in the 460, if you do be prepared to be removing a lot of lead from your barrel on a regular basis.

This is what I’ve been loading. Worked my way up when finding a load, max I got to was 52.4 started showing small signs so backed it to 52.2 and been perfect. Here’s my recipe.
Hornady ftx .452 200gr
Hornady brass
Winchester large pistol primer
H110 @ 52.2g

I quit shooting cast after my 45-70 and 1911 both ended up so badly leaded up I had a hard time cleaning them. I just prefer the cleanliness of a jacketed bullet.
I know I wasn't cleaning them as often as I should have for them to get so bad but it's just so much nicer to shoot jacketed and at the velocities the 460 makes it just makes sense to me to stay away from cast.
