I have had good success using a 300gr xtp mag projectile behind 40.5gr of H110 with starline brass and a Winchester large rifle magnum primmer.
Smooth ejection smother and easier than hornady factory 200gr ftx.

Anyone else have any other loads

I have also tried 230gr berrys plated projectiles behind 13gr of trailboss for a very light load.

240gr Hornady XTP MAG with 42gr H110 burnt clean on my 5-inch.

This is very similar to what I was loading when I had mine.

OP, why would you buy a 460S&W then load light fart loads? It's a cannon not a 22.
And the projectile goes in front of the powder not behind it, lol. I know what you meant though, just gotta give you a little bit of a hard time :p

I load about 50/50 hot loads vs the fart loads. Sometimes I bring new people to the Range and don't want to scare the #### out of them right away. lol

I just picked up a S&W revolver and a TC Kahtadin in 460 S&W... I have some 300g xtp-mag and some 300g Speer gdhp to try so far... I have only shot the factory ammo so far as the revolver came with a pile! Every time I pull the trigger on either, it makes me smile :)

For the fart loads I use some cheap plated projectiles I have left over from reloading 45acp. Since the speed is below or at 1000fps the plated ones shoot fine. As for the brass life with the light loads they should last a while. I shoot mostly the hotter loads and safe the light ones for new shooters and what not.

I shoot plated Campro at 1400fps without issues. Brass life has been very good at max 44 loads. Eventually the mouth cracks on a few and I cull that batch.

I have read that some people only 2/3rd size their 460 brass. Is there any benefit to this? Are you guys full length sizing? I hear some people have issues full length sizing?

I full length resize. So far I have some brass where I am on my 4th reload. no issues. I think if you load up to the point where the empty cases are a little sticky on the ejection you may have shorter brass life.

I use 41gr of H110 . 300gr xtp mags with cci large rifle magnum primers. On about my 3 to 4th reloads with the brass . Its seems to be the sweet spot for the ruger #1 and it works just fin in the revolver as well. Easy to eject and no flat primers .

My two main 460 Mag loads are 42gr H110 or 36gr 2400 behind 300gr home made hard cast lead with gas checks and Plated Frontier Bullets. I’m on my 6th reloads now and have had to scrap three cases due to cracking one of which was after the second reload the other two were in this last one.

If I’m going to shoot my 460 Mag I want it to feel like I’m shooting a 460 Mag. If I want less I bring another caliber to shoot. 45 LC are boring through a 460 revolver!
