.460 smith and wesson - "what are you gunna hunt with that?"

This thread reminds me a little of a story about a couple guys from work. The one already knew I had a 460 XVR with the 8 3/8" barrel. I was initially thinking .500, but after some reading I decided I'd rather have the .460. So my one buddy starts talking about my scoped handgun. The other looks at me wide eyed and says something like "You scoped your handgun? What are you hunting?". I don't remember my exact response, but I'm pretty sure it was something along the lines of "Whatever the f*ck I care to point at". After we showed him a picture of an X frame next to a Smith and Wesson .44 magnum, he understood what I was saying...
 
So the recoil pad on my H&R 500 S&W rifle is now permanently flat because I shot maybe a hundred rounds through it. I can't imagine that case in a handgun.
I would love to reload some 700 gr slugs though after I replace my recoil pad. :D

When I shoot my .500 I get questions like that and my answer is "If I were allowed to hunt with a handgun, I could hunt anything on earth that breaths air and walks on land"
