Well after looking at te redhawk vs the S&W i had a decision and purchased a 460 V that fit me like a glove its quite an animal but since i can plink with teh 45 LC and Casull reduced loads i went with the 460V very nice compact gun with a short little barrel on it with out the break it would likely be a prohib!!!

I like it now the stupid paper work LOL!!!! Started the transfer last night.

I am sure it will let me know when it goes boom with full loads!

She's a fun one for sure. Cowboy load 45LC are barely noticeable recoil-wise. Factory 454's give a good solid bang. If you reload, Camp Cook has an interesting recipe involving Lil'gun powder. Once you light up a 460, things really get interesting. I won't say a thing. Please post your impressions of the first few 460 rounds and which ones you use.

I just picked mine up last week and was out at the range this weekend. My impressions were: recoil not bad, noise level - out of this world. It's a very deep boom that you can feel go right through you. You could also feel the heat come off the muzzle blast. Every time I shot the bloody thing snow would come off the roof at the outdoor range, it was just that loud.

The first day I put 20 rounds through it and only stopped because the ammo is so expensive, I'm pretty sure I could easily put 50 rounds through it in a session without a problem and I guess I'll know better once I get set up for reloading for it. The next day I went out with a few friends and put another box of 460 through it and some 454 casull. The 454 is pretty soft shooting out of it. I tell you the look on peoples face after shooting it for the first time is priceless.

After shooting the 460 I started shooting some pretty "heavy" 357 loads that I have and they didn't do much for me.

I'm going to get my own reloading gear soon enough, instead of using a buddies ;), and try to load up some rounds equivalent to the Buffalo Bore 300 or 360gr. 2000-2100fps, and around 2800 ft/lbs? That ought to stop Smoky da Bear.

That BOOM is a wall of sound, a thick concussive blast. LOTS O' FUN. I kind of like the heat too. Feels and sometimes looks like the sun turns on for a millisecond or two right in front of you.

I really don't think you are going to get those kinds of velocities but will be totally interested in the loads you come up with especially if you can pull off those velocities.

I just can't see a 360gr hard cast gas checked bullet being able to get that kind of velocity I can only get 1520fps out of a 7.5" SRH 454 Casull...

If you can I may have to buy one of these guns as well...

How ya doin Cam? I just went ahead and ordered my Mernickle shoulder rig, thanks for the tip on that one. Your definitely right about the weight of the the 460, it is a beast but I think with the right holster it shouldn't be too cumbersome.

My friend got one for Christmas and we were quick to the range.

I want one bad...

The 45 LC is very fun to shoot out of it...

The 460 is an experiance all in its own...

From the Buffalo Bore Ammunition website. I realize it is advertised velocities, but promising none the less. I am definitely going to have to get a chrony and test loads myself though......should be a fun process. ;)

Item 26A/20: 300 gr. J.F.N. (2,060 fps / M.E. 2,826 ft. lbs.)
Item 26B/20:360 gr. L.B.T. - L.F.N. (1900 fps / M.E. 2,860 ft. lbs.)

Good luck on that holster did you tell Bob you had seen mine.

I just had him send me a modified belt/strap that goes onto the shoulder holster (the strap that goes around your waist/back) I wanted it wider on the right front so I could put my speed loader pouch or the 6 shell holder on properly.

Backwoods I never realized that the 460 could get 300fps to 400 fps faster than a 454 Casull.

I wonder what barrel length they are using?

Cam,

No I didn't tell him, I'd seen yours, I actually just talked to a lady who took my order. Seeing yours in person definitely did it for me though. I was actually debating between the FC11 (waist holster) and the SH7B (shoulder rig) and thought the shoulder rig was the way to go with the weight of that thing.

Probably the 8 3/4, thats why I want to chrony a similar load out of the 5 inch......it's still pretty high. I've read about some pretty damn impressive ammo exiting the 460's. The velocities trump the 500 S&W by a fair shot as well.
