Someone say the .460 Wby has an issue with bullet integrity and / or penetration? This is a 450 gr Barnes TSX after penetrating 14.5 inches of green spruce. Re-weighed at 449.6 grains upon extraction with a slug diameter of almost 1 inch....

If I'm ever hunting 14 inch trees I'll keep that in mind. Buffalo and elephant aren't made of wood, and don't weigh the spent bullet to find out if they are dead.

For us cast boolit fans, any of the big bores make for a ton of fun shootin' and for ploppin' anything from deer to big bears within sensible ranges. Don't have to push velocities beyond 1700 fps. either. The pricey bit is usually the rifles and brass they require.

The .460 MarkV with a ported barrel isn't that bad to shoot. I've had a .416 Rem mag recoil much worse. Don't get me wrong, it's not a pussycat to shoot like a .375 H+H, or a .300 win mag!
