Im looking at loading some 250 grain FTX for my 460s&w Kahtadin rifle. I cant find any load data as they are not recommended for revolvers as there is no crimp groove. I use other bullets for my revolver but have a good supply of them in town here. I see people are using them in the 45 Raptor which is the same case just rimless.... Anyone shooting these in either the 460 or the raptor that can share some data?

If you need to crimp then:

If you are planning on reloading then Hodgdon lists loads with H110, Lil'Gun and H4227 and 250gr Barnes. Same thing goes for any gun, start low and work your way up.

You can also buy a Hornady manual and find out what they have to say about reloading the 250gr FTX. One thing I will tell you is that it is easy to crush the bullet, and the FTX bullets are long, so you cannot use a compressed load. Most of the time, the seating die has to be modified to work to reduce (but not eliminate) the chance you will crush the bullet. Reloading FTX bullets is a finicky process, full of trial and error.

I have had some issues with FTX in other cartridges. Nothing major though... I will play around with a box of them and see. Might just stick with the Barnes 275....

In my 450 Bushmaster loading the 250 FTX I just apply a heavy taper crimp. The cases are fairly similar and use the same bullet diameter. I taper crimp the 275 Barnes as well. Never had any issues.
