Some people should be ashamed of themselves...:(

Replace the cylinder, barrel and firing pin(likely), and it'd be back in (non-original) working order.

They press hardened steel cones into the barrel to prevent it being drilled out.

Couple hours work to get it up and running.

A LOT of pop bottles to pick up in order to buy it though.

Cheers

The real crying shame is that as a pre-1919, obsolete calibre firearm, it was basically available to anyone with no paperwork in the UK...:(

Wasn't there a deliberate attempt made to deactivate all those Brit antique status guns? I was told that when the prohibition came out there was a focus on getting them deactivated or melted down to make sure they weren't kep in circulation. AKA misinforming/bullying the owners of antiques to get them to deactivate or hand in.

My understanding is that to collect it, you did not need it on paper, but to shoot it, you did. A bit convoluted, really.

Sad.

I got news for them. I have a hydraulic press too. Those cones can go right back the way they came. :D

Just as well, I bought a deactivated webley (for the parts) from a similar outfit in the UK, the gun never showed up and seller went suspiciously silent after awhile.
Be cautious guys, I suspect they think we are just silly colonials.

Yes be carefull guys is right theres some B.S backwards thinking in the UK about exporting any type of handguns antique or deacted ive never been able to get one antique revolver shipped outa the uK i know a guy who has imported antique rifles but not any handguns.

Im not sure if its real Laws makeing that so or just a brain washed public but no luck at all.

That may be right for live antique pistols but for deacts, that is definitely a myth. Regardless, you won't find many UK people willing to ship deacts to Canada from the UK. I brought 4 deactivated guns out of the UK myself legally on two trips this past year.

As long as they have the UK proof house certificate of deactivation and proof house deact marks, there is no licence required for export control of properly deactivated guns from the UK.

I have an E-mail from the UK export authority I carry that confirms this along with other supporting documents.

Exporting yourself, it goes like this: Airline firearms declaration form gets signed and they snag a 30 pound fee. Airline walsk you over to UK customs where they inspects guns and deact paperwork. Airline takes the case and checks it as baggage then sends you on your way.

On the Canadian side, it's best to registered guns before you travel. This also helps convince the Uk customs agent there is no prohibition on importing where you are going. Canada does not recognize UK deact status, so no matter what you have, they are generally treated as live guns. For antiques unless you are confident you can convince a customs agent of antique status, registering everything is a good idea and revert to antique or Canadian deact status is an option later. If restricted, you also must have the ATT lined up and be sure to transport per approved safety methods - and don't forget the duty. Sounds like a massive hassle but it is not that bad.

I guess someone would have to be willing to pay GBP2750 to make the export worthwhile. It certainly wouldn't be worth that to me because the cylinder and barrel need to be replaced, making it non-original. Frame would be worth a $1000-$1500, nothing more.

cough cough, a Webley for over 4,000 Euros
yep they expect you to haggle ,:D,it's just to give you an example of guns for sale here, this is one expensive dude and the webley's price should be in the 2000 euro region but because of the free sale it's expensive ,some dealers think they can ask any price they see fit,the gun is on that site for more than one year know
hmm;I wonder why?
sometimes nice webley's are sold here for not more than 500 €
