480 Ruger

Yes, it's a beast. I have it in a revolver, Taurus Raging Bull. It's SS with 2 cylinder locks. 40 rounds and my right arm is done for the day, sometimes the week. I would venture to say the stopping power would be something to see if used for hunting. Maybe there is a rifle/carbine for it now.
 
I have the 454 SRH, recoil is supposed to be very similar in the two at those levels. Yes they are a beast to shoot with full house loads....but a really really fun beast. I am using a 390 grain bullet at about 1280 fps and see no need to go hotter than that (probably willl though), the recoil is very sharp especially in my 5.5" barrel. That said it is a blast to shoot even with the severe recoil.
If I get a bunch of extra $$ some day I wiould pick up another SRH in 480
