Had a chance to drop by the 48th's museum today. Nice displays, run by vets & volunteers with no government support(No policaly correct, sanitised history, just what they experienced as viewed from a regimental perspective). Drop by if you have a chance, its in the basement of St Andrews church downtown Toronto. They should consolidate all the museums in the area into the inglis plant, it would be a dammed better use of an important historical site. Then they could parade all the cities school children through & show them what TO was like before it turned into a Liberal cess pool.

If you ever find yourself in Winnipeg you should check out the Royal Winnipeg Rifles Museum in Minto Armoury. Its small but really well done and also run by volunteries. I also recomend the Museum of the the Regements in Calgary, it has a gallery for every regement from Alberta.

Another fine museum is the Royal Westminster Regiment museum in New Westminster ,..B.C....though small it is very well done...and a credit to the Regiment.

"...the Inglis plant..." It's gone. In any case, it wasn't a government owned building. Inglis began making washing machines, etc after W.W. II.

Since you are talking about The Scots,
www.gordonhighlanders.com

Of course you are going to need to buy an airline ticket to see this one.
Its quite nice, but again NO government support.
Last time we visited, the gift shop made one heck of a profit!:D:D:D:D

Sad when the Gordons were absorbed into The Highlanders. Gordons were the sister reg't of the 48th as well.
