i recently received my late Grandpas .22. a Win 490. After cleaning her all up I, and addition of scope, she was ready to test out. Test lenghth was only 45yrds, due to the 3-4ft of snow at the farm. She really like the CCI mini mags, American Eagle, and Winchester so far grouping about the size of a quarter. She really didnt like the CCI Blasers or the Rem Thunderbolts

winchester 490

that's a semi-auto isn't ? anyway, try shooting Remington "yellowjackets " out of it i use them for all my .22's , they work well , good groups , and 1500 f.p.s. I used those thunderbolts before and had nothing but trouble with them . also the last brick of winchester wildcats had a lot of dude's in them . good luck Joe

yellowjacket's

I have found with ammo of around 1200-1300 f.p.s. that the drop at 100 yards is about 4 inches , with the yellowjackets it's only 2 inches , the 300 f.p.s. faster seems to make a difference. at 25 yards sighting in i sight my rifles 2 inches high , that seems to zero them at 100 yards . barrel lenght will make a difference , and also the type of sights your rifle has on them . good shooting Joe
