If no one has heard of these guys they get my thumbs up.

I purchased a Nikon Monarch 3-12x42 SF/BDC from them recently.
$540 here, $388 down there.
They charge $30 for international fees (NO BROKERAGE FEES!!!!) and send USPS or Fed Ex.

If your looking for optics and want to save a few bucks give them call.

Just no "sniper style scopes" accross the border. They will tell you which scopes (ACOG's) they will not ship.

Cheers

But.....but ......its illegal to buy scopes with no importation mumbo jumbo

Joking aside, I paid less for 2 Zeiss scopes tax in to my door from Prophet River then their sale prices (then add on shipping and brokerage fee's)

I paid a $30 internationall fee, no brokerage fees from these guys.
Total price came to $418

I'm checking out bhphotovideo.com. I've often bought camera gear from them. The ship to Canada through Purolator I think who does not charge the huge BS ridiculous brokerage fees.

Unfortunately I can't seem to figure out which spotting scope I want. That is another story :)

It is illegal to send or take stuff out of the U.S. that U.S. laws/regulations require permits for sending or taking out of the U.S., without those permits. If you sit up here in Canada and ask a U.S. seller to send you something you break no U.S. laws, even if the that U.S. seller does. It's not "importation mumbo jumbo." There are U.S. laws about export of some things.

Huntsman said the retailer charged "international fees" which rather suggests they know about the rules and did the proper export paperwork.

I could be wrong, but I thought Leupold had serial numbers on them. If so they would know which numbers ranges were sent to which distributor and in what country.

Apart from that, the Canadian distributor will know if it's a model they didn't import.

Of course, if they won't import the model you want, and you really want it, you jump through the hoops to get it here and you accept that any warranty work will require going back through the hoops of paper to send it to the U.S.

Shipping Fees

Huntsman Et Al,
When ordering stuff from the USA, do NOT have the purchased product sent via UPS (United Parcel Service) . . . unless that is the only choice you have AND you are willing to absorb the 'handling fees' that UPS charges. Instead, have the seller send the product via United States Postal Service (USPS). Similar looking initials but a world of difference in the final bill.

The model was/is available in Canada and I can't see Korth checking serials to see if it was purchased in Canada. Regardless, its not my optic anyway.;)

I don't have any Leupolds and have never used Korth, but it was reported a while ago that Korth announced they would not honour warranty on scopes not distributed by them in Canada. I suppose they think they have some way of telling, and serial numbers or some sort of mark they added themselves seem most likely.

No fear, I phoned and spoke with 2 of the guys there (Carol & Calvin) and specified that I would prefer US Postal Service to send the scope up here. Thier only issue was that I would wait a little longer than Fed Ex, with Fed Ex it would be here by Friday'ish but I could expect gst or hst.

They do check serial numbers, and it isnt too hard, because they are the Canadian distributor. If it doesnt come through them, no warranty. They have them all listed.

Agreed, got a Leupold for a friend for significantly less than anyone in country. Shipped overnight with FedEx. 4scopes is good to go.

How long did it take to get the Import Certificate from the Canadian Gov't?
