I'll continue to purchase my optice thru 4scopes. Import Certificate???
I don't plan on ever buying a Leupold. I've been using Nikon for the last 7yrs and much prefer their glass.

They do check serial numbers, and it isnt too hard, because they are the Canadian distributor. If it doesnt come through them, no warranty. They have them all listed.

How long did it take to get the Import Certificate from the Canadian Gov't?

Did you guys get this proper export paper work included with the purchase of your scope?

No and no. I ordered, it came in, I paid, they shipped, I had the optic next day.

The proper export paper work would be permits from the U.S. authorities for the person sending it or taking the item out of the U.S. to take it or send it out of the U.S. So if a U.S. seller is shipping it out, the permit wouldn't be presented to the Canadian buyer in Canada.

I've never exported a scope or any other controlled item from the U.S. but if I ever do, I'll take the precaution of getting the proper permits.

Their web site states that they have their export paper work in order for certain countries, Canada being one of them.
It also states that they would act as the central point for all warranty work in the US. Ship to them they ship to the manufacturer. That is their guarantee.

Their prices look good.

Here's a breakdown of costs;
Cabelas
$529.95
$19.95 S&H
$71.49 HST
$621.49 total

4Scopes
$388.88
$37.54 S&H including exchange
$60.13  Customs fee
$486.55 total  For a difference of $134.94

Yes I got nailed with custom fees but the Cda Post guy even said that was rare, like 1 in 100 and USPS was a better choice for shipping.

I've brought 3 scopes up from south of the border. All 3 I was nailed a customs fee. Was still cheaper though than up here. All that being said, the last 2 times I've purchased from a Canadian supplier. Once because it was a great deal (WSO blowing out old stock), and the other because I just felt like it - even though it cost $100 more.

They aren't customs fees, they're taxes the same as you'd pay at your local shop. My experience is 50/50, but I always expect to pay it. If it slides through, its a bonus.
