Got this muley this morning with my new benelli sluggun,2and 3/4inch slug,about 120 yards.He had a smaller friend with him and gave me a god broadside shot..Hit him a bit too far back,missed the lungs.He still didnt walk too far.Slug penetrated to the off side skin,and stopped there..Have pics of the slug if anyone want to see..First deer I have taken with a shotgun,range may have been a bit too far as I did not hit him where I wanted,but probably pilot error...No wasted meat however...Good start to this season!!!He was a big deer,,hard to load in the truck..A log skidder sure helped alot!

Not sure ,,rifle is open where i was,my 375 was in my truck and I was actually hunting chickens and had 2 nice bucks walk out in the cut not too far away..lucky thing I had some slugs..

There was very blond bear in exactly the area where you discribe. Did you get him?

BTW I took out my brother and got him a small mulie 2 pointer a few miles west of the tower on opening day. I have the peperoni done already, very very good meat.

Please tell us more about your shotgun. I see rifle sights on your barrel, Is it a rifled barrel or a smoothbore?

What make/model of slug?

The bear I got was a black bear with white markings on his chest,,took him at around 30 yards or less..Saw quite a few bears and saw a big one about 500 yards from where I got my muley..Whitetail in there too... does all hanging together and bucks in seperate groups....The slug was a plain jane winchester 2.75 inch ..barrel is smoothbore with sights,,good for chickens too..Had too much trouble with my two defenders and traded them on the benelli and it shoots everything great so far,even the 3.5 inch loads with no problems at all..Groups around 6 inch at 100 meters,off the side of my pickup truck,gun might do better..Kicks a bit too,similar to the defender..
