The only predictable bear behavior is their unpredictability so who know what behavior is typical anymore. The one thing that is clear is that if the bear is so focused on you that it is not distracted by anything else going on, be it dogs barking or a fence post to the head, you have a problem. These ain't your grand-daddy's black bears and the more frequently human - bear interaction occurs, the more opportunity there is for human injuries to occur. This isn't a call to shoot every bear on sight, but it is a call not to make assumptions about how a bear should respond to your presence.
