5+1 ar mags falling out.

I'm not sure what to do. I have a few green follower mags from questar.
I can't load 5+1 with the bolt closed. ( it clips in fine when loading with bolt to the rear, but that makes 5+1 moot)
Where do I begin to modify the mag so that it clips in without falling out?

my lower is a stag with dpms kit, if that makes a difference
 
I can't speak from experience but you need to allow the rounds to go down further in the mag. Is there some way you can shave the bottom of the follower? Maybe even call Questar and ask them. Maybe there is a problem with the mags.
 
Speaking from experience, you can remove the followers from the offending mags then shave off a little of the rear "tang" until you get a perfect fit.

Quick and easy fix.

I used to "wack" my mags until I was shown how to insert them properly...push hard, feel for the 'click' and pull. :)
 
I just re-fitted all of my mags this long weekend... I found the perfect play-gap to be exactly 3mm from the top of the magazine lip to the rim of the topmost cartridge when fully compressed (this allows for 5+1, but will not allow a 6th in the mag).
