5.56/.223 Accuracy

Ok, Now that we are clear that 5.56 should not be shot out of .223 chambered rifles, where can someone with a 5.56 buy ammo (preferably in large quantities and heavy bullet weights)? I never see it for sale anywhere.

i have created a new thread to adress that question; hopefully , someone will share a source, if there is such a thing... search for ''5.56''

lmt

thx, I actually called the guys at LMT and they said the heavier the better. They use 77 Gr. Sierra MatchKing quite a bit, but that's .223 and I don't think is available here and must be expensive (I could be wrong).

Hornady 5.56 75gr TAP where/when you can find it. But I find the powder they use doesn't work well in my 10.5 LMT barrel. Works wonderfully in my 14.5 LMT AR and 20 inch 1:7 twist SAN.

You will want 1:7 or 1:8 twist for the heavy rounds. Under 69gr, you should be ok with a 1:9.

Thanks for the heads up. I have recently began reloading, I will try something in 62gr. much appreciated.

Is the AR-180b chambered in 5.56 or 223?

Mine says 5.56mm on the side....:yingyang:

Edit: Should have seen fnrob's post first!

BTW, I had a 3-12 Fitco scope on my AR-180B today and, at 50 yards, grouped about a loonie (guestimated ;) ) with that "tactical" American Eagle .223 ammo.......so, if little 'ol me could manage to work that, I'm very sure others can do far better with their rifles!

Don't a lot of Black rifle manufacturers stamp .223 instead of 5.56 on the side for American Export? Robinson's XCR for example?
