I was just looing at the head stamp on some american eagle 62grain bullets I bought and there stamp says LC 08 and then a nato sign??? it does not say 223. also the primmers have a green rim around them. what does this mean? does the nato mar mean 5.56? cause the box they came in says 223

There was a bunch of IVI made 5.56mm ammo that was rejected as below spec. This was very early production, and it had a bad habit of shedding the jacket. Some of it was allowed to be surplussed and exported to the States. Some of it may have migrated back over the years, so it could be some of that.
