Hey guys I want to buy a gun for relatively long range shooting, up to 600 yards, but i don't want some big caliber hunting rifle, if i wanted to hunt i would use my 6.5x55 swede, but that costs a lot in ammo. I want to know what is better, the .223 or the 5.56 NATO, i know there is a difference in casing thickness for higher pressure loads in 5.56 but which round is more accurate in general?

okay thanks, just wanted to know if it was worth my time looking for a 5.56 bolt action, but if .223 is more accurate guess that's why more bolt actions are in .223, btw is your profile pic a unimog cuz those things are awesome. Canada ammo is awesome you guys have cheap 6.5x55 swede for my m96, and my buddy is thinking about buying the dominion arms outlaw combo are they good guns?

looks similar to the unimog either way cool looking rig, do u own one? Sorry im getting off topic thanks for the advice

I had a Remington SPS 700 tactical in 223 that was very accurate. It had a hard time shooting milsurp 556 do to the harder primers. I know milsurp 556 isn't what you're looking for when it comes to accuracy but keep it in mind if you plan to do some cheap plinking with the rifle.

Thanks, for some reason i didn't think of that i dont know why since i have 2 milsurps, but if i do start to do a lot of plinking with centrefires i think i will just reload
