I have sporter type LE #4 rifle with a full length barrel and a flash hider. I want a truck gun and this rifle is Way to long. The flash hider was held on with a set screw. I would like to shorten the barrel to 18.5" I removed the sight guard. Does the front sight come off and if so, will it expand to the thicker barrel contour ??? There is .056" difference. It looks like there maybe a pin on the top side of the sight.

When you get the barrel shortened (that's pretty short for a .303) the machinist will have to turn the barrel back to that same diameter for the front sight base. One issue is, the sight base allows for the bayonet lugs which I'm sure you still have. Without them there are big gaps on both sides.

You actually have a full length 25" barrel? With bayonet lugs? Please don't be cutting that barrel! No need to do that at all, uncut barrels are premium desirable items.
There are literally thousands of Enfields around on which the barrel has already been cut back. Use one of them.

If you want a shorter one I may have a trade for you, nice 5 groove barrel, Globco conversion :D I think its about 20" barrel, and the charger bridge is removed and a rear sight installed on the barrel.

Maybe I will just put it into the EE. It's actually a pretty nice rifle. The barrel has been shortened 1" and still has the bayonet lugs. When I bought it, the flash hider sort of through me off. I thought it was Much shorter. I wanted a short barrelled 10 shot Camp/truck gun.

Sounds like a Royal Marine Commando special...:D

Pics?

BTW, since the barrel is shortened at all, you might as well go ahead and shorten it some more.
