After getting a 65mm Leica spotter I was on the hunt for a protective cover. The Leica cover looks ugly and is expensive. So i found this five dollar neoprene wine bottle bag at the dollar store. With some trial and error for proper fitment, and a beer cosy which seemed perfect for the eye piece, I have a cheap and functional alternative. I had to enlist my elderly mother for the sewing as it turns out neoprene is a pain to sew, and I can barely sew to start with.
This winter I will redo it with a slightly better fit. I will not make a separate piece for the sunshade next time, rather the main body will be once piece. I may also make a cover for the objective similar to the eye piece cover. So I am now on the hunt for a cool looking neoprene print.
