5 pound lever 357mag

Hope the mag tube is steel and not aluminum, that is a long length of exposed magazine to take a hit on a rock when dropped.
And,yes, I have dinged a tube mag on a lever before.

$1150? No thanks! For the price of one of these rifles, a person would be better off to spend the extra few hundred bucks and buy a Miroku-Winchester 1892. Top quality build. Smooth and reliable, right out of the box. Currently listed on the Ellwood Epps' site, for $1629.99. (.357 Mag, 20" barrel). Pricey, but worth every penny.
Or, one of the new, Ruger-made Model 1894's. Recent reviews of these rifles has been very positive, so far.
Even Rossi rifles are going for around $1200, now. I own a Rossi. Which I bought for a fraction of the new price. Even after extensive tuning, it still won't run as smoothly and reliably as a Winchester. No guarantee this Turkish-made rifle will run any better.

Man. Canadian importers and retailers are just pricks !
300 usd turns into over 1k Canadian?

So glad I’ve liquidated everhtbing but my hunting rifles and quit shooting for fun because I’m not supporting these criminal orices.
For an aluminum made in Turkey gun.. wow

300usd for the US importer price (who those guns are coming through) for a model that isn't being brought in currently....

But yes, clearly some middlemen are making some serious bank on these - or at least trying to. No idea who's gonna buy this over a Rossi at the same price...

Hopefully someone can start getting these straight from Turkey and make em cheaper...

Redblack: Thanks for posting the link. At that price, the Winchester is a bargain! I am fond of the 'short rifle' version but... the carbines are nice, too. Same excellent build quality....inside and out. And, the price is right!

Just visited the SASS Wire forum, a few minutes ago. I see that the Turkish lever rifles have already captured some interest, there. Will be interesting to see the comments generated from that thread as it progresses.

Another Turkish-made lever rifle update: From SASS Wire forum. Message posted by shooter from Oregon who bought one of these. Retail: $600. Which is pretty much inline with estimates from Suther, on this thread.
So it seems that we are definitely getting hosed here in Canada, if retailing for twice that.
No thanks: Winchester or Marlin, for me.

I'd be interested in something like that in 10mm as a nice companion piece to a 10mm pistol assuming of course durability and quality in manufacture.

600us or 600cad? cuz 600us is 800+CDN, add 25-30% markup, and yup, 1100. That said I will wait and see.

Dosing: The person stated that's what he paid for it, at an Oregon gun shop. So...$600 U.S., retail.
The fella in the post stated that he had put about 300 rounds through the rifle. A mix of both .357 and .38 Special, without any issues. He seemed to like it, so far. He is a Cowboy Action shooter....so will be interesting to see how well the rifle holds up under the hard use CAS guns are subjected to in competition. That sort of real-world testing should reveal a lot about the build quality and durability of these rifles.

It should be noted that availability of these guns appears to be quite low, which is likely driving up retail prices. When I try to search for them I only get a few hits and the prices are significantly higher than the MSRP. Typically, guns retail for their MSRP or even a bit less than that stateside, so I would very much expect prices to come down once availability picks up.

MSRP on the S&W FPC is $699. We get those for $999 and that includes making them with longer barrels to be NR in Canada (stateside they're 16.25" barrels.) That is a 43% price increase, or exchange+10%.

Marlin 1894 is $1239 USD MSRP. We got those for $1639 back in December (I didn't find any in stock right now, not that I looked particularly hard), a 33% price increase - which is basically straight exchange rate.

The MSRP on the black Huckleberry is $480. We just got those for $1200 ($1150 is a sale price according to bullseye). That is a 150% increase. That, IMO, is absolutely ridiculous.

Gun prices in Canada have gone full retard. Rossi 1892's being a prime example. $1200 for a kit gun. I own a Rossi '92 and have some idea what goes into making one into a passable shooter. Blatant consumer gouging, in my view. I also checked out the new Turkish rifles. Since they are so new on the market, I don't expect to see many of them in Canada, anytime soon.

Prices on guns have gone up across the board. Rossi's are at not wildly out of line if you look at their MSRP vs retail price - $840US MSRP, $1200cad retail, thats about a 42% increase, ~35% of which is the exchange rate. They're only like $60cad more than US MSRP once you do the conversion. Meanwhile these Turkish ones are $500+ more than US MSRP - a $480US MSRP converts to only $647CAD.
