5 round ar mags?

Pistol caliber carbines like the Beretta CX4 and the Kel Tek Sub 2000 are unrestricted and can't use anything other than 10 round pistol mags (Beretta and Glock respectively).
And that's perfectly legal.
Similarly, any pistol magazine in a STANAG 4179 profile that fits a pistol designed for a STANAG 4179 profile mag may be legally used in any rifle with the same STANAG 4179 compliant magazine well.
Hence, AR15's and all other rifles either designed or adapted to fit STANAG 4179 magazines may use 10 round PISTOL mags provided those mags were not modified in any way.

From the notice:

4. Magazines designed for one firearm but used in a different firearm

The maximum permitted capacity of a magazine is determined by the kind of firearm it is designed or manufactured for use in and not the kind of firearm it might actually be used in. As a consequence, the maximum permitted capacity remains the same regardless of which firearm it might be used in.

Example:
The Marlin model 45 (Camp Carbine) rifle chambered for 45 Auto caliber uses magazines designed and manufactured for the Colt 1911 handgun, therefore the seven round and eight round capacities are permitted.

The same rules apply to an LAR magazine. It was designed and manufactured for use in a Rock River Arms LAR 15 pistol. The fact that they fit and function in an AR15 rifle is immaterial.

Hoping to have black and tan back in stock in a few weeks. They aren't the really short mags, but they're a nice medium length.

Specifically to bulletin 72, you're looking for section 4

AT15 pistol mags are great, they've taken the time to actually mould into the magazine "AT15 Pistol Magazine" so that there can be no misunderstanding of what the magazine is for - it won't wear off as some silk screening may, and the length is close to the same as the original AR 20 round mag.

Silly question maybe but do the at15 mags work with with mag wedges? And if they do does the added length of these make them bit awkward?

Mag wedges were designed because the RRA pistol mags are short enough to be tough to handle in quick mag changes, and disappear into mag pouches - the ATRS mags aren't tough to handle and they don't disappear.

Who sells the 5 round ar mags that are not the long 20-30rd pinned to 5!
Thanks.

My Norc CQ-A came with a couple Chicom 5 round mags that just stick out of the mag well. I use them for bench shooting with a rest because they don't stick into the table top and they have never failed to feed properly. If you post a WTB I imagine you could find a truck load of those for cheap considering all the Norc AR's that have been sold by site sponsors to CGN members.
