you may be better off with inserting a spacer inside the mag that limits the follower.
Looks nicer then drilling a hole in the side of a mag and then sticking a rivet in it.
Also depends on what milsurp you are talking about. All semi-auto's need to be 5 rounds except Garands (8rd enbloc). All of the Bolt actions can be as many rounds as the mag will hold.

Just a quick question.
If you have a rifle such as the Remington 7515 tactical(a pump action that accepts AR mags)
Can you un-pin a 5/30 round AR mag to use in this rifle?
Is the 5 round limit only for auto loading rifles? Or are pump actions also under the 5 round limit rule?
I don't own either a AR or a rem 7515 but am considering buying a 7515 if you're aloud to get a NORMAL cap mag for them.
thanks!
1) Nope. The 7515 is decreed to use AR mags, which are 5 round limit or the AR pistol mags for a 10 round limit.
2) The rules are:
All semi-auto centerfire (shotguns and rifles) have a 5 round mag capacity limit. (aside from the Garand)
All manual action centerfire and all rimfire rifles have no mag capacity limits.
All pistols have a 10 round mag capacity limit.
The mag capacity limit is determined by what the mag was designed to be used in, which is why the AR can use pistol mags with a 10 round limit.

I'm sure remington makes 30 round mags designed for the 7515. would that be legal?

what if a person took a 20 round mag made for a semi auto ,which is pinned to 5 , and fit it to a bolt action .
can the pin limiting it to 5 be legally removed then ?
if not , what if the mag was modified to no longer be able to work in the original semiauto ?
just some thoughts floating around my head while i can't sleep ,![]()
