not worth all the cutting and welding .

you can buy 5 rds mag that is flush .

One of mine is done. no welding (that I can see).... just two cuts, mind you I got it this way. I'd never get the nice straight lines if I was to try it... I can take a closer pic if you like, this one was just at hand...

That looks real good. My present SKS is in a tapco with a few extras added, my next SKS will be left totally stock, aside from refinishing the wood.

sounds like fun .

some day i would like to visit the tunnels in vietnam and see what life is like during the war.

Hey Curtton,
Where are those flush fit 5 round mags from? I was on the edge of cutting down a spare 10 rounder to make my own but if someone has already done a neat job I would be more than happy to go that way.

Norinco use to make them for there hunter style rifles back before the States had a hate on for China. Unfortunatly the supply dried up back in 08/09 and now they are rarer than hens teeth to find now. Along with the Vietnam jungle stocks.

Satain is right, the norinco 5rd mags in Canada are getting rare. I see alot of them at U.S. gun shows I attend, usually 1 or 2 at each show between $10.00 and $20.00. See the pic below. The top is the stock 10rd mag and the bottom is the Norinco 5rd

In trying to think about how to reproduce this the thing that seems most problematic is making the little tab at the top edge of the trap door where the mag release is supposed to hold it. On Russians the tab is milled in and on the Chicom i have it seems like it has been bent and folded over.

I'm going to post a WTB ad.

We have the 10/5 detachables in stock, HERE.

Hical, I visited your sight and what you show appears to be a full size magazine (10 rds.) but fixed for 5 rds. If this is the case, nothing is gained and the mag still ptojects under the rifle. Am I right?

In the thread, I see the one rifle with nothing projecting as well as the metal one for 5 rounds from the states.
