You don't need to bend the end up. Just cut the clip in half and peen the rim slot closed on the cut end.

You can get two 5 round clips doing it that way.

Reminds me I need to make up a bunch of those.
That looks like pretty good work, btw.

I was figuring, also, that I would spray paint one end of each red or orange to prevent loading mishaps.

I just load mine to five, it's not like I (and most other people) don't have several pounds of empty 10rd clips to do that with ....

but putting 5 rounds in a 10 clipper adds bulk

shame i just tossed my bag of strippers away, o well, just another excuse to burn more ammo :D

I just tried doing it also and it was easier and I am able to get 2-5 round strippers when you cut it exactly in half and crimp the cut end. It took me about 10 minutes to make 12-5 round strippers. Whenever I use the 10 round stripper and try to put in just 5 rounds I always seem to drop one on the ground or, I never get all 5 in. This way is fool proof.

I went to Lever arms in Vancouver and bought m-14 5 round striper clips they work perfect with 7.62x39 and feed to my sks

I think this is a good idea, although since the ammo comes pre loaded on strippers, I will just continue to place the 10 rounder in the rifle, and just load the lower five rounds. It is almost second nature after a few loads and you don't even have to count anymore. But when the surplus dries up (it will) and the only ammo available is loose, I can see myself cutting my strippers into five rounders.
