5 round stripper clips that strip off both ends

Has anyone seen a "how to" on making 5 round SKS stripper clips that you can strip the rounds off of either end? I was making a bunch of 5 round stripper clips and I stumbled upon an easy method of making the clip hold the round from falling off the cut end yet allow you to strip them off as well.

It is one of those things where I am pretty sure I must have seen someone detail how to do this before, but can not find details anywhere.

I just want to make sure I am doing it in the most optimal way, before I do too many.

Try this; take the 10 round clips and only put 5 rounds on them. That is the easiest cheapest best way to do what you want. Ganderite won matches using an sks like this IIRC. Remember K.I.S.S. it is a rule that will make life easier.

What I did was pretty much followed the common way of making 5 round stripper clips.

Except, instead of crimping the cut end I make two small cuts to the stripper clip using a dremel and a cutting disk.

Then you simply use pliers or a vice and compress the two tabs that you have created with your cuts. Use trial and error to find out how much you need to compress to hold the rounds on but also lets you strip them off. I have been doing this bending process right after cutting so the metal is still hot. I am not sure if this is mandatory but it may help the spring steel.

I have found that the rounds stay on just as well and strip off using a very similar amount of force as they do on the factory end. I have made a hand full and have tested them by stripping empty cases into my sks and so far have been very impressed.

If interested, please try this out, let me know how it goes and any suggestions on how it can be done better.

Don't knock it until you try it!

use a 10 rounder, put 10 rounds on, push, and presto, 5 are in the mag, and 5 afe left on the clip for next time.

repeat.

I cut the clip where it would hold six, then bend up the cut side to where only five slide in. The bent side is easy to tell in the dark just by its feel, yet never drops a round off the cut side by mistake.
