50-110

Substitutes like 777 and pyrodex have been used but are harder to ignite and fouling is just as bad and more likely to start corrosion/rusting, if you don't like the BP cleaning, I'd go with duplex loads, slightly more velocity, sightly more kick because of more complete burn of the BP.

My old Lee cast bullet manual has quite a few duplex loads - I didn't know they did that for a cleaner burn.

I used to hunt with a .50 T/C Hawken and used both BP and Pyrodex with patched round balls and Buffalo Bullets. It seemed to me that Pyrodex burned cleaner.

I have 1 lb of 4759 so I might try some duplex loads but I would like more volicity. I know that anything I hit at 1300fps will be knoked down for good - but :).The last loads I shot with this gun( years ago not this round ) were paper patched over black. Fun but not as accurate as I would have liked. It would not compete with my 38-55 on paper. Thanks for the views guys. AJ
