50/70 brass or ammo

Hi. Tell your buddy to make sure the rifle is safe to shoot first. And it'll be Black Powder only. Had a .45-70 Trapdoor carbine long ago. 70 grains of BP out of it hurt. No Internet and few books in those days to find out the carbine used a lighter bullet with less powder. Suspect a Rolling Block weighs more than a Trapdoor Carbine though.
Ammo and brass is expensive. Ten-X makes ammo. MSRP is $85.99US per 20. Epp's is a Ten-X dealer. Won't be $85.99 from them though. If they have any.
Shooter's Choice, in Waterloo, Ontario, lists Bertram brass at $78.95 per 20.
MSRP for Hornady dies is $90.01US. $91.95Cdn from Shooter's Choice. They say they keep 'em in stock. Lyman makes dies that run under $50 from Sinclair Int'l(Brownell's) though.

Sunray, Starline makes 50-70 brass and it'll be a lot cheaper than Bertram. The quality should be somewhat better too. I've had a high failure rate with some Bertram brass (although recently I'm seeing a lot of rim thickness variation in Starline 
). Jamison might make that brass too.
Jerry @ Mystic Precision can get that brass, regardless of which brand you choose. I order all of my "obsolete" brass from him.

Jerry cannot get 50/70 brass. Last time I asked, apparently his distributer's export license limits him to components under 50 caliber(regardless of antiquity). Track of Wolf is you best bet for Starline 50/70 brass, Dixie brass is the best if you can somehow get it.
Ah, that's too bad. I stopped buying .50 cal brass when I decided to rebarrel my .50-140
. The stuff I've been buying from Jerry has been .45 cal or less.Sorry about the misinformation. The U.S. is pretty odd with their restrictions on the mighty .50 cal black powder components and rifles. I never saw the logic in that.
Sunray, you are right about Shooters Choice. While waiting for my .45 Norma basic a few years ago I bought a couple of boxes of .45-110 Bertram. I think I paid about $4 a case!

Sunray I have ordered and received both a 100 and 250 piece order. Please don't talk about something you have no knowledge on. I speak from experience in the past 6 months. What is your experience on ordering brass from track of the wolf?
