50 beowolf pistol ?

If there's a minute supply, yeah, you'll see $100 a mag, but if there's a steady supply the price will be far less. That said, Alexander Arms can't even get us Canucks rifle mags, how anyone could think pistol mags are even possible within the short term is beyond me.

There is a rumor NEA may be making some...

A rifle with a barrel 16" or less, is an SBR, and is there version of "restricted" and they need special paperwork for it. A tax stamp they call it. Think of it as a $200 registration fee, per SBR rifle you own. However, pistols down there are for the most part, "non-restricted", so to get around this silly law, they simply took the stock off of the AR, and it legally becomes a pistol.

I'm not positive, but I thought the gun/frame had to be originally manufactured as a "pistol", as opposed to a rifle with the stock removed. I remember seeing AR's marked up here as "Pistol Only".

Not that US law has bearing on our laws, but if AA were to manufacture a <16" .50Beo pistol in the US I think it would go a lot further to being marketed and sold as a "pistol" up here, making it a handgun commonly available in Canada, and thus (specifically marked) 10 round pistol mags available. They already make a 12" upper for SBR builds. If they mated it with a "pistol" lower and perhaps marked the upper as "pistol", well there's your 12" .50Beo pistol.

Given that the charm of shooting it would likely wear off quickly, a Canadian owner could later add a stock to make their "pistol" more akin to a .50Beo "shorty" up here. (AFIK there's no law up here against putting a stock on a pistol, they way they have in the US)

I don't know how many "pistols" would have to be sold up here for it to be considered commonly available in Canada. Yes, it would mean some number of people would have to buy expensive "pistols" that possibly wouldn't see much use in order for the rest of us to be able to buy the pistol mags.

Armtac has already ordered 12" .50beo uppers and they're sold out. As you said due to Canadian law it's already restricted regardless of barrel length so the factory has little reason to cater to our market for barrel length.

I am sure that the RCMP will allow the importation of magazines marked ".50 Bloewuff blot action riffle".

And if they did I would buy many of them.

well since there's no limit on bolt action capacity it could even be for the intended caliber ,no need for Beowulf just mark it as .223 or x39 as long as its designed for a bolt action the caliber is irrelevant.

This is a dream. It ain't going to happen. Any .50 Beowulf pistol will use the same mags as the rifle. Therefore, no special pistol mags will be designed. Therefore, any 10-round .50 Beowulf mag will be a prohibited device.

Probably.

Not true. Those mags will be .223 mags pinned to 5 .223 rounds and thus only hold what, 2 or 3 50 beowulf rounds. If you want the full 10 round beowulf capacity, you'll have to buy a 50 beowulf pistol magazine.

I've got a RRA pistol lower, and a AA Beowulf 12" pistol upper. Maybe ill call the CFO tomorrow and have them register the lower with that upper and see what happens from there. On paper, it will be a .50 Beowulf "Pistol" with its own FRT #...

It won't be the first. If you're doing this to attempt to get a pistol mag you need to have it done commercially about 75 more times. It needs to be a commercially available firearm, not a one off.

Perhaps that saves you some time, of course if you'd still like to pursue this then it's your time and property to do with as you please. Let us know how it turns out if you pursue this.

Gonna poke a little hole in your logic here, the 10 round .223 STANAG pistol magazine is a thing that exists in Canada. A 10 round .50 Beo magazine would essentially be the same thing.
