Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

So I went to Bartons and shelled out the extra cash to get 5 magazines, I'll be heading to the range shortly to do a review using 223 (sorry no actual beowulf).

My initial impressions are that the mags feel well built

They drop free.

These mags are pinned to actually allow for 15 rounds of .223 I did manage to force 16 in there but it was tight and may not feed reliably all the time. Though it did feed fine for me with the one i tried.

Intial tests using some dummy rounds and my cheapo norc AR15 show that they do seem to cycle the round perfectly fine while manually racking the action.

Due to the crimping I seem to be unable to remove the spring and follower. But we all kinda knew that was likely.

They are a nice grey in color.

Ranger plates fit nicely.

Rounds are removable with ease.

Mags are clearly marked "50 Beowulf 5 Cartridge Capacity" On the floor plate and on the side of the magazine

Now for the bad.

As I was humming and hawing over my soon to be purchase, me and one of the guys at Bartons got to chatting. He has informed me that Bartons here in good ole Grande Prairie is the only store in Canada that has these magazines. He stated that he has a friend over at C Products Defense that informed him that there are no mags even on order from any other suppliers. Whether or no this is true remains to be seen, but this is the most information I've heard from any other supplier about where the magazines are and when they will be getting here. They do however seem to have a good amount of stock and he said they have about 500 more coming in.

Now work was rained out this morning but seems to have died out. regardless I've got the day off. I'm gonna get showered and cleaned up and head to the range and do some magazine dumps and various rates of fire.

Just got back from the range. They feed 223 reliably.

I am using a norc ar15 from Marstar. Which failed to allow the magazines to seat unless the bolt was open. When tried with a daniel defense ar15 Ray from Barton's allowed me to try and the magazines would seat properly regardless of whether the bolt was open or closed. This leads me to believe that this is likely only a norinco problem as they are built somewhat out of spec.

BUUUUT after trying to seat a loaded magazine at home I was able to get it to seat with the bolt closed without effort. Not sure what the issue was at the range. But I was trying multiple magazines and smacking the quite hard. And this now seems to be a non issue at home. I think I was just used to how easily 5 round magazines seat. Aka I was just being a wuss and not pushing and smacking the mags hard enough. Still it was much easier to seat them with the daniel defense. Go figure.

Did some dumps and some various shooting speeds without issue. I'd say I ran about 300 rounds through 5 magazines without any failures except one. The bolt on my ar15 locked back while there was one round still in the magazine. When I hit the bolt release it chambered the round just fine.

So there you have it. If theres anything I missed just ask and I shall answer if I am able.

The mags seem easily accessible. No fumbling. I had no trouble removing them from the magazine pouch on my light hiking pack. The pouch is too stretched out to hold one mag (used to tho) as it is currently used to hold a stanley wide mouth flask :p
