i believe YOUR "realism" is pessimism defined,,,,and pessimists NEVER get ahead....but positive people DO...if everybody used YOUR attitude,,our 858's would STILL be prohibited,,,,some of us dont just roll onto our backs and simply take it,,,

It's pretty safe to presume that this will never happen.
Not in our lifetimes...
This is the best we're gonna get, and I'm just happy we can get them.

I think you're partially incorrect. For 50 Beowulf Im hoping we'll eventually see 10 round pisrol mags. Once this happens, myself and many others will be happy campers.

Actually, realism can be expressed as pessimism or optimism depending on the realities of the situation being considered. I find a realistic approach to be most effective.
But thank you for your valiant efforts. Go forth, optimistic soldier, and save us all!

Realism is just an acceptance that one feels defeated in his ability to change the status quo.

Actually, the definition of realism is the tendency to view or represent things as they really are (eg/ the possibility of "hi-cap" mags given the socio-political climate surrounding firearms and magazine capacities in Canada).

BTW, if one believes that change is realistically possible then how would that fit your idiosyncratic definition of "realism"?
In any case, I look forward to the next trite phrase masquerading as argument.
Perhaps, "Do. Or do not. There is no try."

Anyway, gotta work...good shooting!

You were using the term to define your view that change is not possible. Thusly, I used the term as you did, to highlight the defeatist ideology being displayed.

EXTREMELY well put Fenceline,,,some just take it and roll on their backs,,,some of us choose NOT to simply take it and feel defeated...there are ways to defeat ANY problem,,,

No, I was using it to characterize my view, not define it.
NB: Unlikely, not impossible. (Realism!)

"Thusly"? Very genteel...
