I tried searching for a 50 bmg thread and had no luck. Just looking to see if anyone had a good load for the 750 grain a max and H50bmg powder? I have tried several different loads and I am not having much luck with great accuracy. Shooting a styer Hs 50. Thanks for any info

Maybe your rifle doesn't like that particular bullet? Have you tried different bullets? Have you tried other powders? How about seating depth?

I have an HS50 M1 - mine shoots the AMAX over H50BMG quite well, but I don't get to shoot it routinely out past 500 yards.

Brass prep is critical - what brass are you using? What dies as well? Best investment I made was a neck sizing die for the .50.

IVI brass is thick and tough, but have to reduce load to manage pressure. Hornady brass that was originally loaded from the factory with the AMAX projectile works better.

Let us know what you've tried for now...

I have used lc brass and ivi match as well. I spend lots of time on case prep. I have tried us 869 for powder as well as h50bmg.

I have tried playing with seating depth and doesnt seem to change much. I have not tried any other match bullets other than the a max. I was looking at the cutting edge bullets.

I have loaded and shot the m33 ball but dont have much faith in those grouping well. I have tried neck sizing and full length sizing. My current best load is 218 grains of h50bmg ag 5.730 oal.

I shoot 6.5creed and 308 regularly at under sub moa and I load for those as well. I am averaging about 5 to 6 inch groups consistently at 300 yards with 50 bmg.

I figured this rifle would be capable of more. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm accuracy international...is what I had aw-50...if I remember correctly I believe it was 214grs or 220..
Happy and safe shooting
Miss my accuracy international...

Guess this thread is pointless now. Thanks for the info everyone.

Hopefully the CCFR comes through and I can try some of these loads.

I hope the various legal challenges produce results...I have $8k of rifles and $2.5k worth of reloading supplies for .50BMG sitting useless right now...but legal owners aren’t being targeted, right?

Swap to us 869 with 250g behind your Amax bullets I prefer CCI 35’s, and found seating them 045” off the lands to be perfect in my HS-50, mine will holds 1/2 MOA out to 800 yds And about 3/4 moa at a 1000m

Depends how you live your life. I mean .... Non restricted right! i have spend over 2k in components since the OIC

I load the 750 grain A max with 219 grains of H50BMG. Shoots great out of my Serbu bfg 50a

I bet it is real mild shooting with a light load like that.
OP I found 232 to 234 gr of either H50 or US869 worked with the 750s when I had an HS50

We have Lapua 50 BMG cartridge cases and 750 grain solids which work well. Also have VihtaVuori which some adamantly prefer so we hear.

I owned 3 steyr HS50 and a Barrett M99 and a custom 50 on a bat action with a 37" lilja barrel

I used the 20N29 it worked extremly well

Dont wast your time with once fired IVI brass, buy new RWS or new lapua brass.

You really need to anneal

Dont waste your time with neck sizing, buy a full length die and have the neck custom honed so you dont have to use the expander ball

The most important thing i found with the HS50 is that it has a very long throat. Its literally impossible to load the 750gr amax long enough to touch the lands. This was the case with all the of the HS50 i owned over the years. You have to load the bullet so long its almost falling out of the neck and than be very carful not to bump the ammo and knock them out of wack.
