Can the ferret50 or bohica .50 bmg uppers be exported/imported? Seems like a reasonably priced way to get into .50 BMG. I searched but didn't find much.

The Ferret as well as most other uppers to be fitted onto an AR lower are made in the USA so can not be exported to Canada ( Thanks Mr Bush)
The few that are already in country are deemed restricted once you attach the lower, which is actually the restricted part.
We are building a lower assmbly that we hope will solve this problem, but the upper needs modification so it will never fit onto an AR lower again.
Now we wait for the feds to decide whether we have been able to idiotproof the lower we made enough to meet the non restricted criteria.

a single shot rifle with "decoration only" mag well? And you can only shoot it at the range cuz it is restriced. And there aren't many ranges out there that can be long range enough to really take advantage of the calibre.

hmmmm

ATR, What good is making a lower if the upper is so damn rare?

Would you guys be making your own uppers?

I own a Feret and I know of several other guys who own them as well as a few Safety Harbor uppers.
It is NOT a big market to be sure, but for those of us who bought the uppers years back, hopefully the lower we are making will allow us to get the rifles out of the restricted class so they can be a tad more useful.

I too was concerned about how the lower would possibly be damaged, but have shot mine a fair bit while attached to an ordinary Bushmaster lower with no ill effects to the lower.

What we have put together has no mag well at all in an effort to make it as Non AR ish as possible so the feds can not claim "it looks like an AR therefore it shall be restricted" like they do with many firearms (GSG5 for example)

Not at all,the lower takes no stress from firing the recoil is transmitted directly to the shoulder via the receiver extension and butt stock. I have seen Safety Harbor .50 uppers that have had fired hundreds of rounds on the same lower with no damage.

We are adapting our lower for your upper if you want it non restricted.
Hopefully the feds won't come up with more hair brained plans like using duct tape to hold an upper and lower together:eek: thereby making it restricted:kickInTheNuts:

There was a CGN member that said he had one of the single shot lowers with a 50 upper registered as non-restricted a few years ago. I tried it but the CFC wouldn't go for it and shortly after that the US banned export so I dropped it.

There were a few SH rifles brought in before the ban and the CFC did not realize at that time the upper could be replaced with an AR upper and could still fire 1 shot, then someone woke up.
This is why we are making a lower specific to these that requires permanent modification to the upper so as an AR upper will not mate to or be able to work from our lower, despite the duct tape that the feds seem to like to use.
