50 BMG or 338 LM

Being that equipment is a factor for sure in accuracy along with the shooter and ammunition! Does anyone have experience with the Savage 10/110 ba in .338 LM? Do you think it would be satisfactory as a starter in this caliber?

My .338 LM is the 110 BA. Like most Savage rifles they are (relatively) inexpensive and a little clunky, lacking the smoothness of other brands, but they do shoot - mine is no exception and is more than sufficiently accurate for my needs. It isn't the most visually pleasing rifle and Rick's comments about the rail are quite correct but as a entry into the world of .338LM it is a hard to beat choice.

The 110 FCP HS Precision shoots well, and it's a nicer looking rifle. It fits a 50mm objective scope with Vortex low rings, no riser required. It's even less money, too!

Shameless plug, I know...

I've got the same rifle, with a Sightron 56mm objective scope mounted on it. Lots of fun and plenty accurate :)

So is the difference between the fcp hs and the ba just the stock? Is the reciever and barrel the same?
If it is just the stock I would go with th HS as it will be bedded anyway, sorry OP for sidelining you thread but the info will still be relevant to your future purchase too. I think I would/will go with the .338 first and work my way up to .50 cal. If I ever get there!
