50 bmg reloading

In my 50 US869 worked better than H50BMG with the 750 gr. bullets.
I would not shot the 'pulls' in my rifle as I was not satisfied with the quality of the ones I had.
The very best shooting bullet in my rifle was a 750 gr. flat - base bullet made by Matrix.

The VihtaVuori reloading guide has loads for .50 Browning. Since I'm not a rifle shooter I don't know if it's the same as 50 BMG, but it has loads for a 750 grain AMAX. Check the Lapua website.

ill check my book, 650grain bullet, it says start grains on H50BMG at 218.2, 2701fps, and max 248grains in a compressed charge at 3029fps. Min oal 5.450
750 Amax start at 205 grains at 2497fps, to max at 233 at 2800fps MIN oal 5.450

"...don't know if it's the same as 50 BMG..." .50 Browning and .50 BMG are indeed the same thing. Reloading for it isn't for the faint of pocket book.
"...surplus powder..." Usually just called that. Isn't really surplus. Most militaries(their governments really) no longer sell anything to the public.
"...only list max loads..." Likely no real load developement done. Back off by 10% and work up.

To be honest they dont look like pulls. There are not marks on the pulles of it being in a case or marks of them being pulled. I intend to check the weight of each one. Thanks

keep the info coming.

You will definitely have to weight sort to see any kind of consistency from those surplus bullets. I was getting up to 10gr. of variation between bullets in the batches I was buying.

I use 647 gn Barnes XBT with H50BMG, CCI 35 primer and weight sorted LC brass. IIRC I'm seated .010 from lands and this load chronos 3004 fps and shoots 1/2" @ 200 mtrs. Tried US869 and got neither accuracy nor velocity from it, will be trying some Matrix in the future and may revisit US869 with a heavier bullet. Hornady publishes data for their 750 Amax in their latest manual. Sorry but I won't share powder weights, but the previous posts are in the ballpark with what I load. Mine is a Steyr HS 50.
