Lets just pretend I have both the LEE classic cast and the RCBS set-up for 50 bmg, what would you keep for reloading 50 and smaller calibers?

I would probably keep the RCBS, but the issue is this, I have the lee on my smallish bench already, along with a turret press. I don't have room for another press. I reload .338 Lapua, 300 WM, 303 brit, and .243 win on the classic cast curently, and to switch to 50 bmg on it I just remove the bushing for the die.

Now the RCBS is a beefier press, but to reload non-50bmg I have to bolt on the smaller shell holder, and the primer catcher on this press makes me angry. ;)

If you had both press's and could only keep one on your bench for 50 and smaller calibers, which would it be?

I guess another question is, have you had any problems with the lee classic cast loading 50 bmg, don't just reply "yeah it broke" let me know what happened, and if its fixable.

Thanks guys! I don't think I need the build another table just to add another press that doesn't do anything more then what I already have. :)

I have both on my bench and have had no issues with either.
The RCBS requires less effort because it is a bigger beefier press.
The Lee is easier and faster to switch to smaller calibers and is tighter in the linkage. Also, depending on the cartridge being loaded you might need a shell-holder extension in the RCBS because it has a much larger opening than most other presses. The Lee is cleaner to use because spent primers drop directly down.
As for cost, I'm not certain what they are currently, but when I bought my stuff the RCBS set was at least 3 or nearly 4 times more expensive than the complete Lee set.
Which one would I keep ??.....I'm not sure as I have 5 presses on my bench and over 70 sets of dies and use them all.
However downsizing is going to take place in a year when I retire... ;)

If you already have the Lee, and you like it, keep it. I think mine works great for .50BMG and it's heavy-duty enough to do some swaging with too (although I use a 2' long handle).
