50 cal barrel (pitting)

My friend has a 50 cal the newer modern break action that he offered me real cheap ,,,the only problem is the barrel does not look like it was cleaned very well and has a build up and looks like some pitting
Will this effect how it shoots and what product is the best to clean it with?

Depends on what the buildup is. If it is plastic, only thing that I can think of is to plug the barrel really well and fill it with acetone for several weeks.
If the buildup is actually rust or even if it is plastic, you might try a very tight fitting patch and valve grinding compound to sort of polish it or alternately use the green part of a scotchbrite pad over a brush plus oil and if not extreme enough put valve grinding compound on the scotchbrite material. I have done both on rusty bores and it polishes more than removes much
