50 cal BMG

Just a quick question for Alberta Tactical. What was the problem in 2010 that prevented you guys from running a match? I've been toying the with idea of a 50 forever but keep talking myself out of it for one reason or another. If I had at least one match to attend annually that would be another check mark in the pro column.

One of these days I'll have to make a trip into Calgary to see your shop. Do you guys have a store front or just a machine shop, etc?

I have heard CH makes good custom .50 BMG dies. Or can a individual just use RCBS dies in most .50 cal guns.

We DID run a 50 cal shoot in 2010, not many showed up for it, but those of us who did come had a BLAST!!!!!

We hope to be putting on another 50 cal shoot in 2011, but until the CHAS range has their long ranges back up and available for use, will have to wait and see if this will be possible.

As for best dies the C&H get my vote.
The RCBS dies are ok and will likely work for the production rifles, we have had to shave several thou off of the size dies they make so as to properly resize brass for our tighter chambers.

No need, the guy has the reading comprehension of that of creatinous churl  I live on Vancouver island and was talking about the ranges in my general area, if not of the whole island. I don't think any are templated for 50 bmg. But I know some of the woods are. I finally had my 338 Timberwolf out to 1070 yards. Yes, it was in the woods. So JOHN R1, back away from the rubbing alcohol and praire oysters and be grateful you don't live on an island. I am:rolleyes:

Your statement I quoted directly suggested some type of Federal/Provincial/or Firearms Act "law" that existed banning the use of .50BMG at "any range".

Yeah I was a bit sarcastic, but that's how most of the people act from both cities mentioned anyway...

I don't know which ranges are cert'd for .50bmg in B.C., but it's not "illegal" to shoot one at a range. That was my point.

Carry on...
