50 cal bullets >750gr??

Bullet weights for the BMG range from 600-750-800 I believe. I use the Barnes TSX 647 gn and 50 BMG powder from Hogden, 3030 fps and 1/2" group at 200 yds. I've got several hundred of the Barnes so haven't tried any other bullets in mine.
How Far have you stretched your 50cal? What kind of accuracy have you got at 1760-2000?(if you have shot at that distance with it)
I am Just curious.
I wanted a big 50 for YEARS, but finnally descided against it 5 years ago. Just too expensive for me to afford to shoot it at its potential.

Be no point. In order to shoot this or any caliber "WELL" at 1760yds+ you need to shoot allot. And you need to use high quality bullets, and prepped Brass. This and the equipment to do it is expensive to set up.
But it would have been fun!
Now I just shoot other calibers at these distances and save the bigger expense.

Do you mind me asking where you got the Barnes from? I am looking for some.
The best bullets for my 50 BMG were 750 gr. Matrix.
We shot them out to a full mile with good results.

I bought up a buddies supply that came into the country from the US by unknown means. Buddy has since passed away, great loss, was a very close friend!!
I have not had the chance to do any shooting past 1000 mtrs with it, possibly this spring out on a frozen lake, I hope to do some testing to 1500 mtrs and possibly 2000.
Yep she's definitely a high maintenance girlfriend allright, it would be pretty easy to go through $5K a summer with it. I would be shooting it a LOT more if I could find an appropriate spot to shoot it those distances.
I have the Steyr HS 50, and it is a pleasure to shoot except for the muzzle brake blast.

Alberta Tactical makes a brake that is 22.5 degrees instead of 45 degrees that the Steyr is. I just ordered one,I'll post results when I get it. I have gotten a real bad headache from shooting the Steyr so need to do something about it
My 50 BMG was built by Alberta Tactical and wore their brake.
It was a dream to shoot and because of the brake design it could be shot from prone without the risk of starting a grass fire.
Recoil like a 243, but it did weigh 35 lbs.
The brake itself was much more shooter - friendly than any other brake I've used.

They do make one specifically to replace the Steyr brake, check their website and maybe give Rick a call, he is a great guy to deal with.
Are the 750s still supersonic at 2500 mtrs, I was led to believe they dropped sub by 2200 mtrs. Also where can I get my hands on some 750 Amax, I'd really like to try them.
Wolverine Supplies and a few other smaller shops have them on order, US state department has allowed some permits to be approved for US manufactured ammo, components, and some firearms. This is something we have not seen allowed for BMG for a long time.
