was just snooping through afew web sites checking out some rcbs goodies..
i came across a press for 50 cal...
was just wondering how much more effort is needed to full length resize a 50 cal brass compaired to lets say a 30-06 pc of brass:confused:

The press for a 50 is of necessity a fair bit larger over all and normally the handles are longer than say a Rockchuckers handle is, giving you more mechanical advantage.
With Redding resizing wax the effort is reduced from the standard "STP" like lube that is commonly used, but still being as the 50 brass is significantly thicker there is a bit more energy rerquired to size the 50 cal brass.
I reload for a "match chambered" rifle, years ago when I could shoot my Ma Deuce which has a far more generous chamber, the work out to resize casings was ALOT more vigorous:(

How much more effort is really bases on how much the brass has increased over spec, but in a good chamber about double what it takes compared to 06

In the absence of measuring equipment, just say a lot more.

BTW, the Lee Classic Cast Single Stage is designed for .50BMG reloading as well. Reasonably priced as well.

I just traded an RCBS Ammomaster for a smaller Lyman press. The Ammomaster is perfect for 50BMG, but is a full 2" deeper than the Lyman. Very nice press, but just a wee big for my .223 and 257Roberts.
